The CD50 Stand Alone
Point of Sale LAN
The CD50 is the
most commonly deployed LAN. It has the ability to concentrate up to 15
Turbo terminals back to a central master that can communicate over a single
3201 connection. The essential difference between a CD40 and a CD50 is
that the CD50's second port is an RS422 port while the CD40's second port
is an RS232 port. This difference is significant since the Turbo can only
transmit over the RS422, and hence must work with the CD50. Since the CD50
is an older LAN product and significant upgrades were made in the development
of the CD45, for larger installations (more than 7 lanes) the CD45 is the
preferred LAN master.
