CD46 Single Terminal
Integrated Solution
The CD46 provides
an integrated debit/card solution to a stand-alone cash register. With
the CD46, the retailer can do integrated debit and credit transactions
with little change to the cash register. The CD46 is designed to handle
the message protocol to nearly every major bank and switch.
The transaction
is quite simple. The cash register passes the "Totals" information to the
CD46. The CD46 then collects additional information from the pinpad. All
this information is formatted to the bank's protocol. Using the built-in
1200 bit/s modem, the CD46 then calls the host bank for authorization of
the transaction. The receipt information is then sent to the cash register
for printing and the approval message is sent to the pinpad.
The CD46 is designed
to be programmed in "C". Wann can provide the "C"-callable libraries and
tools necessary for the quick development of interfaces to a variety of
pinpads, cash registers and bank hosts. Wann can also program the CD46
to meet you're needs.
One of the main
advantages of the CD46 is its remote downloading capability and diagnostics
ability. If code changes arise, there is no need to remove the unit. Instead,
a simple call to the CD46 will allow the downloading of a new application.
The CD46 can also hold diagnostic information that you may wish to collect.
Periodically it can be called to collect this information, or conversely,
it can be programmed to call you.
The CD46 allows
for total control over the functions to be programmed. For example, you
may even store a negative card number file, and upon seeing a lost or stolen
card number, the CD46 can be instructed to call a security number. Primarily
the CD46 offers a low-cost solution to retailers with one or two cash registers.
Aside from the CD46, a bank-approved pinpad and simple interface software
on the cash register are the only requirements for a cost-effective debit/credit
solution.
The end result
is that smaller merchants gain a competitive edge allowing them to successfully
compete within the debit/credit market. Potential clients include: convenience
stores, jewelry stores and clothing stores.
