CD3201 Modem / Driver
The CD3201 is a
modem / driver combination that can be used with PCs or terminals that
need to off-load the Datapac 3201 interface. The unit is certified by Stentor
for 3201 compliance. This design has been tested in all Datapac 3201 environments
across Canada. Wann Connection Devices has had years of experience working
with Datapac 3201 and has an installed base of a few thousand 3201 modems
and drivers. The CD3201 is designed with a very simple interface protocol
to your PC / terminal. When you send a frame for transmission, the CD3201
holds it in its buffer until the next available slot on the Datapac line.
Responses are then collected from the Datapac line and sent to you.
The main features
of this unit are:
-
The CD3201 can operate
in full-duplex or half-duplex mode. Half-duplex mode is important when
your PC / terminal can only receive a frame at select times. In this case
the information is buffered until the PC / terminal is ready.
-
The CD3201 can respond
to up to 8 poll codes simultaneously. Each poll code sets up a unique session.
This is vital for load sharing or sending data to multiple hosts.
-
The CD3201 operates
in either non-transparent or transparent mode. In transparent mode, the
CD3201 handles all escape sequences and CRC calculations that Datapac 3201
requires.
-
The CD3201 supports
Datapac device addresses, which allows the PC / terminal to operate as
a pollable controller.
-
After losing polling
of any monitored poll code, the CD3201 informs the PC / terminal of a host
down situation.
-
The CD3201 performs
all verification checks for Datapac before attempting to send a frame,
thus eliminating messaging problems.
-
The CD3201 can be
pre-programmed before being shipped to a customer. This allows the unit
to be pre-configured for easy installation.
